Watercolors
EJ Meeker created numerous watercolor and gouache paintings. Although most were for his own personal enjoyment, some were commissioned for print or advertising purposes. Such is the case, we suspect, with this illustration of the Sagamore in the Adirondacks.
At first, we thought that the drawing was of Sagamore Lodge - one of the historic Great Camps located in northern New York State, built for the super-rich of the American Gilded Age. But the staff there said no. Perhaps it is the Sagamore Hotel in Bolton Landing, NY on Lake George.

A favorite scene of EJ Meeker was the waterways of New Jersey, particularly the Shark River near Belmar.
